The completion of the pilot for the Enterprise Ecologies came to a close in March 2009. With the completion of this we will be now expanding the delivery to align with the Multi-Access centres being developed across the City. 

Here's what we've been up to over the past few months to launch the new Enterprise Ecologies project.\"Enterprise

Delivery on this pilot project started in February 2008 including project planning and attendance at various Jobs Fairs. As a result of their success, we have worked together with a business trainer to refresh the Train the Trainer and Trainee materials previously used in the IdeaSpark project.

  • In June 2008, the first programme took place at the Highfields Centre. The programme started with nine participants in week one but, by week two, had grown to eleven. We also used this as an opportunity to undertake the first stage of the trainer training, enabling three local individuals to deliver the programme.

  • In September/October 2008, Programmes 2 and 3 were planned - one to take place at the Pakistani Youth and Community Association (PYACA) and one at the Highfields Centre.  Unfortunately, unforeseen delays at the Highfields Centre led to late promotion of the programme and we only had a few enquiries which led the programme to be unviable. The programme at PYCA, however, had eight participants and continues to go ahead.

  • We commissioned a survey into the local area looking at confidence levels within business support and barriers in accessing this. A number of organisations were contacted and the majority expressed a desire to work together. As a result, we suggested running a series of Enterprise Awareness Raising events to support the programme.

  • November 2008, Programme 2 at the Pakistani Youth and Community Organisation. The trainer benefits from one-to-one support by the Train the Trainer before each session and is then shadowed for each session for further support. Developmental feedback is then provided following each session, this seems to be working exceptionally well.

  • In February 2009, we had another two programmes due to start. Taking place at PYCA and LACBA (Leicester Afro Caribbean Business Association) week commencing 25th & 26th February respectively, one day a week for five weeks.
